Obama undoing Bush abortion "Conscience" rule

Saturday, February 28, 2009

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration moved on Friday to undo a last-minute Bush administration rule granting broad protections to health workers who refuse to take part in abortions or provide other health care that goes against their consciences.

The Department of Health and Human Services served notice on Friday, through a message to the White House Office of Management and Budget, that it intends to rescind the regulation, which was originally announced on Dec. 19, 2008, and took effect on the day President Obama took office.

When the administration publishes official notice of its intent, probably next week, a 30-day period for public comment will begin, after which the regulation can be repealed or modified.

I think it makes a lot of sense to lift the "conscience" rule. Shouldn't some of these workers be aware that their job is about performing medical tasks, not putting personal beliefs in the mix. And as for the whole abortion thing, it is the Womans right to choose. Point blank, to all you people out there against it completely, you know very well people would find other means to get rid of a child. Unless your a woman or possibly the father of the child, you shouldn't really have a say with what goes on in people's lives. Sure there is adoption but there is no guarantee that the child will have a great life. We live in a very tough time period with failing economies, a struggling environment, and a not so certain earth future, so why bring a child into the mess if you don't feel up to the challenges ahead? People can barely survive now. Yes it may be different in America, but overall the planet is in peril. I think religious people need to give it a rest.

Yes it is a woman's right to choice for it is the woman who will be having the child not the government
